Alexei Ludevig was born in St
Petersburg, Russia, where he studied viola with Yuri Bashmet, Dmitry
Shebalin (of the Borodin Quartet) and his father Alexei Ludevig
Sr. In addition, he studied conducting with Maris Yansons.
He has performed in over a dozen countries on four different continents.
As a soloist with orchestras including: the St.Petersburg Philharmonic
Orchestra, St.Petersburg Philharmonic Chamber Orchestra, Camerata
St.Petersburg, Novosibirsk Philharmonic Orchestra, Berlin Radio
Orchestra etc. As a soloist and chamber musician he has appeared
with internationally renowned musicians including: Arnold Katz,
Saulius Sondezkis, Michaela Martin, Arto Noras, Martti Rousi, Alexander
Rudin, Mark Drobinsky and Sergei Stadler at prestigious festivals
such as; “Rancontres Musicales d’Evian”, “Schlezwig-Holstein”,
“St. Petersburg White Nights Festival”, “Radio
France Festival”, Davos Music Festival, “St. Petersburg
Palaces International Chamber Music Festival”, of which he
also served as co-artistic director. He is Artistic Director of
“New Silver Age Music Festival”.
Alexei Ludevig’s repertoire spans three centuries. He has
made world premiers of several works of Russian composers(Slonimsky,
Uspensky, Sapozhnikov etc), as well as pieces by modern American
and French composers. Some of these works were written especially
for him.
Alexei Ludevig divides his time between work as a soloist and chamber
musician performances mostly with theSt
Petersburg Chamber Soloists (which he founded) and teaching
at the St.Petersburg Conservatoire and St.Petersburg Music College.
