ELENA MIRTOVA, was born in South West Siberia and graduated from Leningrad Conservatory in 1988.

While still in the first year of her studies at the Conservatory she made her professional debut in concerts at the Musical Academy and Philharmonic Hall in Prague. She also sang the title role of MARFA in Rimsky-Korsakov's "The Tsar's Bride." in Moscow and Leningrad.

In 1984 she won the prestigious Glinka competition which is open to the entire Soviet Union and which resulted in a contract for a series of concerts in Moscow and Leningrad and radio broad casts throughout the USSR.

In 1987 she was first prizewinner in the International Dvorzak Voice Competition in Karlovi Vari, Czechoslovakia, where she also won the coveted Dvorzak prize for the best singing of the vocal works of that composer.

In September 1989 Elena Mirtova was invited with the Chamber Orchestra of the Lithuanian Philharmonia to appear in the 14th Symphony of Shostakovich in the memorial concert for Herbert von Karajan, at the Berliner Philharmonia.

In 1989 Elena Mirtova was invited as principal soloist to the Kirov Theatre in Leningrad.

Ms.Mirtova was a winner of the 1991 FIDENZA/PARMA Verdi Competition and as a result was invited to sing LEONORE (Il Trovatore) in the new production for the Parma International Verdi Festival, in September 1991. However, she was unable to accept because of a previous engagement as IOLANTA at the Alte Oper Frankflirt, where she had a brilliant success. She met with equal acclaim singing Leonora (ll Trovatore) with the Omaha Opera in her North American debut.

Ms.Mirtova is now the regular soprano soloist of Valeri Gergiev, Music Director of the Mariinsky Opera, with whom she has completed a concert tours throughout the world. She appears regularly as a guest artist in Germany, USA, Slovakia, Finland, Japan, Argentina, Britain, France.
