| Vladimir Shulyakovsky studied at the conservatoire of his native St.Petersburg.
In 1984 he took up the baroque violin and became one of the first musician
in Russia, to concentrate on the historically informed performance of baroque,
classical and romantic music.
In 1988 he founded Musica Antiqua Russica, an ensemble based in St.Petersburg.The
aim of the ensemble was very simple-to find in the archives and performe completely
unknown at that time music of the Russian Royal Court. At the same time Musica
Antiqua Russica performs a lot of West-European music, wich was never performed
in Russia, specialized in cantatas, oratories and operas. In this project Vladimir
Shulyakovsky often appears as a conductor. |
