OLGA TRIFONOVA, was born in St. Petersburg and graduated in 1998 from the St. Petersburg Conservatory. While a student at the Conservatory, Ms. Trifonova participated in international vocal competitions and won awards at the first international Rimsky-Korsakov competition in 1994. She was awarded first prize at the XVI International Glinka competition in 1995, and won the grand prize at the second International Rimsky-Korsakov com-petition in 1996. In 1997, Ms. Trifonova received another grand prize at the first International Irina Archipova competition. Since 1994, Ms. Trifonova has been a soloist of the Mariinsky theatre (formerly known as the Kirov Theatre), she has performed the parts of the Queen of the Night in Mozart's "Die Zauberflote" and Zerlina in "Don Giovanni", the Nightingale in Stravinsky's "The Nightingale", Rosina in Rossini's "Il barbiere di Seviglia", Ludmila in Glinka's "Ruslan and Lyudmila", Luisa in Prokofiev's "Betrothal in a Monastery", Prilepa in Tchaikovsky's "Queen of Spades", Xenia in Musorgsky's "Boris Godunov", Amina in Bellini's "La somnambula", Lucia in Donizetti's "Lucia di Lammermoof".

Together with the Mariinsky Opera Ms. Trifonova has performed on many concert stages worldwide, among them the Metropolitan Opera, di Roma, Opera Bastille, Theatre du Chatelet, and has toured Germany, England, Holland, Finland, Israel, Japan, China, Spain.

In 1997 Ms. Trifonova recorded the part of the Nightingale in "The Nightingale" with the London Philharmonic Orchestra under Robert Craft. During the fall of the same year, she also recorded the role Xenia in "Boris Godunov". In the spring of 1999, she took part in the video recording of "Queen of Spades" by Tchaikovsky at the Metropolitan Opera, where she performed the part of Prilepa.
